Privacy policy
Effective date: 6 Jumada al-Ula 1448 AH (17 October 2026). This policy covers the hapi app (Android, iOS and web) and hapibi.com.
What we collect
- Account: your email address and Public Username, used to sign you in and to let friends find you. Friends can find you by your email only if you turn that on in Settings; it is off by default. Your account picture is a Gravatar image made from your email.
- Your records: the quests and worship you mark, streaks, reading progress, relics, points, levels and settings that follow your account. They are stored in your account so they sync between your devices.
- Device data: a random per-install id and a push notification token, used for syncing and notifications.
- Location: used on your device to work out prayer times, the Qiblah and travel mode. We do not keep a location history. If you allow public battles and turn on Share my area, only a rough area (about 5 km) and your country are sent for local boards. With it off, only your country is used.
- Motion (optional): activity recognition and the phone's motion sensors can be used on your device to detect travel or prayer. These readings stay on your device.
- Cycle log (optional, women only): stays on your device unless you turn sync on in its settings.
- Chats (optional): messages you send in "Ask a Muslim" or the support chats are stored so volunteers can reply. They are not linked to your name.
- Bug reports (optional): what you choose to send, which may include a screenshot of the screen you are on. No screenshot or copied text is ever taken on the Family Care, Find peace or Personality Disorders pages, or in a support chat.
- Crash reports: technical crash data to fix bugs.
- Analytics: only three events (sign up, setup steps, and returning after a long break), with no personal content. In the EU and UK we ask first.
What we never do
- We never sell your data.
- We show no ads and use no advertising SDK.
- Your hasanat, points and worship records are never shown on public boards. Boards show only your name (unless hidden), level, battle power and wins. On your public profile you choose what to share, such as your relics, favorites, level and battle record.
Where it is stored
Your data is encrypted on its way to our databases and while stored there. App data stored on your phone is excluded from cloud backups.
How long we keep it
We keep your account data while your account exists. When you delete your account, your account data is removed from our servers. Your place on a battle ladder stays as a nameless "Retired player" with no picture and no link to you, and its battle power is reduced.
Your choices
In the app you can hide your name on boards, keep public battles and Share my area off, turn off analytics, download a copy of your data, or delete your account from Settings > Account.
Children
hapi is safe for children and all ages. It shows no ads, never sells data, and keeps worship records private. A child under 13 signs up with a parent's email, and can use hapi only after the parent confirms by tapping the link we send. A parent can ask us to see or delete a child's data at any time.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date above.
